About the Program
This one-year certificate program not only allows you to explore and earn general education credits that can be applied to other programs, but it also includes a dynamic career-counselling component. This lets you to explore different fields, discover your passions and prepare for a career-specific postsecondary education.
GAP is also designed to help students who have been withdrawn from a program continue their education at Seneca Polytechnic. Some students may only need one semester to complete GAP. This program offers a second chance to start a new career pathway or, if available to you, return to your previous program, better prepared to succeed. Program and Course Delivery
This program is offered online and is also available in person. Students choosing in-person delivery at are required to come on campus.

Program Learning Outcomes
This Seneca program has been validated by the Credential Validation Service as an Ontario College Credential as required by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
As a graduate, you will be prepared to reliably demonstrate the ability to:
- Develop, through general knowledge gained in a wide range of subjects, insight into both self and society.
- Develop flexibility and clarity of both thought and expression in order to develop communications competence to a level required by business and industry.
- Understand and utilize critical thinking processes and problem solving techniques.
- Examine and evaluate various aspects of our changing society to assist in developing a sense of personal and social responsibility as a citizen in society.
- Employ basic vocational, skills drawn from the areas of the Humanities, Social and Behavioural Sciences of Vocational Studies (Business, Technology).
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or a mature applicant
- English: Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent course
Canadian citizens and permanent residents may satisfy the English requirements for this program through successful Seneca pre-admission testing.
Recommended upgrading for applicants who do not meet academic subject requirements.
International Student Information
International admissions requirements vary by program and in addition to English requirements, programs may require credits in mathematics, biology, and chemistry at a level equivalent to Ontario’s curriculum, or a postsecondary degree or diploma, equivalent to an Ontario university or college.
