Please note that the revised Honours Bachelor of Commerce (BCOMM) program is approved to launch September 2026. Accounting, Business Management, Human Resources Management, Marketing and Supply Chain Management will be available as program majors.
About the Program
In this innovative four-year degree program, you will gain the essential business knowledge and real‑world skills needed to thrive in today’s Canadian and global business environments. The program is designed to provide you with a range of business principles, with further specialization in an area of study — starting with two years of core business studies, followed by two years of focused learning in a major that aligns with your interests and career ambitions.
In semesters one to four, you’ll focus on building a strong understanding of core business concepts, including business law, statistics, ethics, management and organizational behaviour. You’ll also explore essential areas such as accounting, human resources, economics and marketing, giving you a broad base to discover your strengths and interests.
At the end of semester four, you’ll select one of five business majors. Your remaining coursework from semester five through to graduation will immerse you in the tools, practices and industry‑relevant knowledge that aligns with your career goals.
Program and Course Delivery
This program is offered in Seneca's flexible delivery format. Using interactive learning spaces, professors teach in person to students in a physical classroom or lab and stream to students online at the same time. In courses delivered in the flexible format, students have a choice of coming to campus for an in-person experience or learning online.
Work Experience
Mandatory Degree Co-op
This program includes a mandatory co-op work term to provide you with valuable hands-on experience in your field of study. A mandatory co-op is typically a paid position that is completed between two academic semesters. It is similar in length to an academic semester and requires a minimum of 420 hours of work experience. You must be in good standing and meet all identified requirements prior to participating in the work experience. Successful completion of the co-op work term(s) is required for graduation.
The co-op search is student-driven and participation does not guarantee that a work position will be secured. However, you will receive guidance and support through in-class career workshops and one-on-one coaching to help prepare for the co-op term. Additional fees are required for programs with mandatory co-op, regardless of success in securing a work position. For more information, see fee details.
The work term can be completed in person, online or in a hybrid format, depending on the hiring organization.
Based on your major, you can pursue a wide range of business roles across the sectors of accounting, management, human resources, marketing and supply chain management. Below are some examples of roles within these fields:
Professional Certifications
If you achieve the minimum grade requirement as a graduate, you will have:
- completed the equivalent of the 15 qualifying courses required for admission to the CPA Professional Program.
- eligibility for ACCA Papers F1 to F8 exemptions
You may pursue several key industry designations, such as:
- Canadian Institute of Management's certified in Management (CIM) and the Professional Manager professional designations
- The Project Management Institute educational component for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certificate
- Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate through Microsoft
These designations often require two or more years of relevant work experience, or the writing of an exam, in addition to completing your academic studies.
This program is recognized by the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) as an accelerated pathway toward the Chartered Marketer (CM) designation.
